Elder Support
Growing old introduces a new set of challenges. We may grow more dependent on the help of friends, family, and sometimes strangers, to manage our daily activities. And sometimes those people let us down.
If you or someone you know struggles to manage their chores, their self-care, or their business transactions we may be able to help. If you think someone is taking advantage of an elderly neighbor or relative, call us. Or, if someone you know might be suffering from neglect or abuse, ask us to evaluate.
We accept anonymous and confidential referrals.
The Elder Support Program offers community education about elder abuse. We work with families to prevent abuse and neglect that can result from the stress of caring for an older person. And often we can intervene if it appears that abuse or neglect is occurring.
Professionals and ‘friendly visitors’ can provide in-home counseling, support groups, advocate for services, provide emergency financial assistance, and facilitate educational workshops about elder support and abuse.
