The After School Program provides a safe, fun and learning based environment for children ages 5-12. We operate Monday through Friday from school dismissal time to 5:30 p.m., with a late option of 6:00 p.m. for those parents/guardians in need.
Programs are currently offered in the following schools in the City of Poughkeepsie:
Kreiger Elementary School
Clinton Elementary School
We also offer a busing option to students in Morse, Smith and Warring
Elementary. The students are transported to our programs free of charge
RECREATION- Organized sports such as basketball, kickball, and soccer will be offered. Children may also participate in games like double-dutch and team sports as well as play a variety of board and card games. Program spaces that are used during the recreation period include the cafeteria, gym, playground, and public parks.
ACADEMIC- Children will be offered a scheduled supervised homework session that will also supply a variety of creative project-based learning tools to supplement and support what children have learned inside their classrooms. Please note that the after school program is not a homework completion program however, homework and other worksheets may be completed as time permits.
ENRICHMENT- Children will participate in activities such as arts and crafts, dance, music, writing workshops, internet projects, and storytelling. Special events like Kids Expo, Community Performances, and field trips may be offered during non-program hours. Program spaces that are used during the enrichment period include the art room, computer lab, library, cafeteria, gym, stage, and classrooms.
