2011Walk A Mile 
in Her Shoes

The first annual Crime Victims Assistance Program’s Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event was a tremendous success in raising awareness around sexual violence as well as funding for important services.  On April 30, 2011, 80 community members put on heels or beautifully decorated flip flops to walk for victims of sexual violence.  An additional 40 people were on the sidelines cheering the walkers on.   The event raised close to $9000 in support of the critically essential programs for victims of sexual assault including:

• Victims of sexual assault have access to support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through the rape crisis hotline.
• Survivors have the opportunity to receive a forensic medical evaluation in a safe and supportive environment.
• All victims of sexual assault, no matter their age or gender, have counseling and advocacy services.
